The garden began in the summer of 2008 and has grown to an extensive maze of garden beds and social spaces which cover around 5 acres of land. Wandering through the garden, you’ll discover a variety of fruit trees, medicinal herb gardens and unique and rare vegetables. The garden uses a high diversity patchwork approach to confuse pests and create benefits through companion planting.
The Garden is a great example of grass roots community engagement, atop a hill in North Bellingen, the garden gazes over a distant landscape with sweeping views over the Bellinger valley.

Since 1995 Bellingen Urban Landcarers have been regenerating waterways in our beautiful town of Bellingen.
Little by little this collective effort has removed rubbish and weeds, constructed fences and bridges, planted and regenerated native species and generally rejuvenated a dozen landcare sites.
Our work shows what a successful community collaboration between volunteers, conservation teams and contractors can achieve.
Did we mention it’s fun?
Bellinger Landcare is a not-for-profit umbrella organisation which supports the Landcare community across the Bellingen Shire, including the Bellinger Valley, Dorrigo Plateau and Coast. We are an independent, professional and community-based organisation providing support and leadership for community involvement in natural resource management now and into the future. Bellinger Landcare Inc is directed by a voluntary executive committee elected from our membership each year at our annual general meeting.

We’re organised as “Seed Savers” – part of a national and global network of seed savers. The ideology behind that is that we deeply care about food security future, and we focus our effort around saving seed.
